Boards gear up for schooling on cybersecurity

Data61 chief Adrian Turner says Australia has fallen behind in the cybersecurity arms race but help is on its way.

Mr Turner, who will be the co-chair of the recently announced Cyber Security Growth Centre, said that while Australia’s capabilities are about five years behind that of countries like the US, there was still time to close the gap and potentially “leapfrog other countries”.

“We have to bring together the universities and make it easier to transfer technology from them on to the market, we need to bring in sophisticated investors, and we need more global context,” Mr Turner told The Australian.

“Companies in Australia need to understand what else is happening in the world.”
