Nuix 7.8 And Ringtail 9.8 Headline Nuix's Legalweek Experience

central park

I'm really looking forward to my annual winter trip to New York next week and the LegalWeek 2019 trade show. While cross-country travel can be hectic, and January in New York cold, I always find the show to be educational and rewarding. It’s always great to see what the "hot technology" is, as well as hear from clients and colleagues about the latest challenges and opportunities inside the eDiscovery workflow.

I'm also reminded how amazingly talented many of our clients are—as many have moved into leadership positions across our industry and will either be speaking or moderating on many of the panels at the show. The rapid growth in the last couple years of both ACEDS and Women in eDiscovery (both organizations we are proud to sponsor) are testaments to the tremendous regional growth of eDiscovery and how it touches just about any significant-sized corporation, law firm, government agency, or advisory.

This will be the first time for many longtime Nuix and Ringtail clients to meet with us since the Ringtail team and software were acquired by Nuix, and we've got a lot of great stuff to share. First and foremost, we have two great releases—Nuix 7.8 and Ringtail 9.8—that we’ll be demoing in our booth and in our private meeting rooms. If you’re interested in a private demo, shoot me an email, contact any of your Nuix or Ringtail contacts, or visit our Contact Us page—but hurry, the rooms are almost full!

You can also stop by for an informal demo from one of our solution consultants at booth #1015 in the 3rd floor Exhibitor Hall.

Hopefully the weather next week will allow for a visit to Central Park as well. Photo by Caitlyn Wilson on Unsplash

Nuix 7.8 is a dynamic assortment of improvements to core Nuix applications, including Workstation, Web Review & Analytics, and Enterprise Collection Center, all designed to improve the speed, performance, and predictability of data processing, management, and analysis.

We understand that big data waits for nobody and we’ve worked to expand on our Elasticsearch implementation, improve our ability to import OCR, and other efforts to help our clients process, analyze, and manage data faster than ever. And, still being new to Nuix, I've been really impressed to see the quality of the analytics found across 7.8. The new "conversation data canvas" provides an incredible, interactive workspace for investigators tasked with sifting through massive amounts of data and noise to find relevant communication threads.

On the Ringtail front, version 9.8 is all about the Ringtail API—and what we've built WITH IT. Yes, I capped WITH IT. At last year's show we announced the release of our SDK and this year many of the new features—including portal, case, and document dashboards—were built by leveraging the Ringtail API. I love this because, a) these are great new additions to Ringtail and b) they showcase how easy it is for legal teams to leverage the rich metadata stored in the underlying database to build custom reports and dashboards.

We've also added machine language translation—never fear another foreign language doc again—and added a new report to our Continuous Active Learning (CAL) workflow. This report was heavily influenced by a great user session we had at the 2018 Ringtail Advantage Conference. The session was called "Design Your Own Dashboard" and it's pretty amazing to see something that started out 4 months ago as markers and paper now be a highlight in our latest release.

And, finally, I think I'm most excited to answer the question I know I'll get more than any: "How's the integration going?"

The short answer is "Great!”

That’s too simple, however. The long answer is that it's been incredible to see how quickly the Nuix and Ringtail development teams have started to collaborate while not interrupting the flow of new features, bug-fixes, and performance tweaks across the platform. In many similarly sized technology mergers, the development teams often get caught in long, demanding cycles of integration planning—oftentimes taking years to get the production lines flowing again.

In this instance, not only have we continued to ship code (see Nuix 7.8 and Ringtail 9.8), we've started headlong into welding together a roadmap that takes advantage of the incredible breadth of technology and capabilities that you find now under the Nuix banner. We now look at the whole of the EDRM and know that at each stage we have a 'best in class' solution to that problem.

I told you it was a long answer!

If you’re going to LegalWeek, please stop by the Nuix booth and say hi. We look forward to seeing you and showing off the most recent additions to all our products.
